There is a fascinating site (View) that has a montage of hundreds of newspaper front pages around the world reflecting the US election result.
The above is the one they display for The Age, my daily newspaper on the morning of November 5th.
Notice the election result? No. Me neither.
Small problem: the polls in the US didn't start closing until 11am Melbourne time on the 5th. Long after the papers had been printed, distributed and the weary sub-editors crawled off to bed.

Charles Schulz (or was it Charlie Brown?) said that you should never worry about the world ending today because it is already tomorrow in Australia.

I hope Mr Obama gets to see this, it's great hey. I was very happy to hear he won.
ReplyDeleteI was sure happy Obama won; now if he can get some things actually done, that will be a miracle.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I like about Melbourne being ahead is that there is usually a Curates Egg post to read!
And for the record, I DID vote for Obama. I also voted against defining marriage as being a man and a woman but that failed, result: no gay marriage in Florida.
