Amazing to me all that's growing just under my feet - so to speak - while here on the surface of my world one can see nothing but miles of blowing snow.
there's a "recipe" for just that called the three sisters. Corn, beans, and squash all grown in the same place. The squash plant covers the ground with shade, holds in moisture for beans and corn shallow roots, beans do co-exist with the corn (probably can't get enough of I dreamed I was a car muffler, last night. It wasn't bad, but, I woke up exhausted) and helps the beans by standing them on a living pole.
Three Sisters. I'm planning on trying it this Summer, unless it starts snowing.
They look healthy and vigorous: home-grown beans are the best!

ReplyDeleteCan you get the beans to grow up the sweetcorn? Symbiosis!
ReplyDeleteI am So Jealous!!
ReplyDeleteI may print that photo out and tape it to the window at my office desk...to block out the snow.
ReplyDeleteTime to order the seeds!
