.
The weather bureau has declared that we are about to have a five day period of temperatures in excess of 40°C days (104°F). It will be, they said, the longest heat wave in over 100 years.
This is coming on top of a very dry January. Rainfall so far 0.8 mm (Average = 48mm).
Bleah.
If I don't blog it will be because I have melted and run under the house.
Good thing this climate change stuff is all a myth, isn't it!
...
Whaaaatt? :-o
ReplyDeleteReally?
wow thats bloomin hot.. whilst we are fed up with the rain! Feet in a bucket of iced water sounds an idea!
ReplyDeleteUgghhhhh... that is hot even for Malaysia's standards. Makes u wanna soak in a tub sipping on Slurpee after Slurpee just thinking of the heat over there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're in the dog days of summer. Ug. I don't tolerate heat well at all. I am totally in my element here at 10 degrees F and five inches of snow.
ReplyDeleteEven here in Chi-town we have our share of heat. Hopefully you don't have to go through what I did back in 1996:

Stay cool.
wow...that's surely hot...
ReplyDeleteso what's your plan? stay indoor with aircond on all the time? or melt away...
:)
Oh my god rex. That simply would be too much for me....I really would melt.
ReplyDeleteNow. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE WIGGLES ARE???????????
Stay cool! Wonder what happens when you mix 15 degrees with 104?
ReplyDeleteLove that picture! My sister lives in Perth and tells me that 40 C is pretty common there in the summer.. .sounds terribly hot and dry though. Have lots of cool drinks and find some air con!
ReplyDeleteHenry Henry Henry! The Wiggles are four men (knocking on for 40), who met up at college and formed a music and entertainment group. They perform songs and shows for young kids. They each have a personality: Jeff always falls asleep for example, another one loves food etc... They give shows together with Dorothy the Dinosaur and Capt. Feathersword. Kids find them all hilarious!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes - you're right - I have NO life!!
Dont melt Lee! Dont melt. We need you around in blogosphere. Shall I send you a comfy ice container with built in couch, food, bed and even a private loo to keep you safe for the next five days?
ReplyDeleteHi Lee. I am not looking forward to this week let me tell you.
ReplyDeleteSo - what if we escape to Tasmania?
I have heard some people are doing just that on the radio this morning .
I think we could take the car on the ferry - that way Kenzo can come too!
Henry: See LadyFi's comment.
ReplyDeleteLady Jicki: I'm tempted.
SSQuo: Thank you!
Willow: More than just dog days (sorry, Henry) - we normally only have 40+ a couple of times a summer. We've had a few already and now seem to be heading for a block of them. Not usual for us. Could be a bad week for fires.
Sympathy sent.
ReplyDeleteIf you do melt and run under the house, think of the gorgeous compost you will make............;)
That's really hot! I wonder what you'll do to beat the heat..
ReplyDeleteYou should come up to Brissie for some mild weather. It's going to be between 27 and 29.
ReplyDeleteTake heart though, when have they predicted the weather accurately? God may have mercy on you in Sin City.
40c?!!!!OMG, I bet I will melt on that temperatures!!
ReplyDeleteYes Lee we have had some very high temperatures here in Sydney over the past week.
ReplyDeleteToday the sky is grey and we have drizzling rain, not much, but better than none.
Try to keep cool. ♥
I'm hoping that, since the BOM (Bureau of Meteorology) frequently makes mistakes when they tell us we're going to have "rain" (sure!) or "showers" (not over my suburb) or whatever term they use for precipitation, that they've made a grave mistake with this too. But I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly work, with an air conditioner, looks attractive.
It was eleven degrees below zero outside my door yesterday - let's meet in the middle. Your 104 and my minus 11 combined should make for a tolerable temp.
ReplyDeleteHow is it going Lee? yesterday was bad but today is going to be worse and now they are talking about the electricity going out in suburbs!
ReplyDeleteI worry about my friend (a sweet young thing :-) who is moving from the Philippines(Cebu) to Darwin next month. But it looks like Darwin is not quite as bad.
ReplyDeleteoh dear, i would have to move. i can't do tropics! atlanta was like living in a sauna in summer. not so here in the pacific nw, but 2 snowfalls this week left us hungry for our moderate summers of 75-82 F. i bet there will be some cold showers and pool activites on the schedule there.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I thought you were in Sydney. But then I heard the weather and figure you must be in Melbourne.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure where I'd rather be right now, here or there.
ReplyDeleteMy brother was born in 1967...Feb. For as long as i can remember my mother has always reminded him of the type of day it was....high 30's, for over a week...bushfires etc.
ReplyDeleteHere in Nth Qld we're experiencing our wet season, 20 inches of rain in 4 weeks, nothing unusual for this time of year.
So what was that you say re climate change? ;o)
