An Adelaide woman who survived for nine days in New Zealand bushland, eating just Weetbix and muesli bars, wants to remain anonymous.
The woman, aged in her 20s, was trying to cross a track on rugged land owned by Canadian singer Shania Twain near Wanaka in the south island.
She got tired and scared, so she sat in a hut for nine days until another bushwalker arrived to raise the alarm.
Phillip Melchior from New Zealand's volunteer search and rescue organisation LandSAR says the woman does not want to speak publicly about her ordeal.
Mr Melchior does not know if people from Weetbix have been in touch with the woman, but says he would not be surprised if she was offered a contract.
- ABC.
This could backfire terribly on the company; imagine the headlines:
Woman survives for nine days despite having only Weet-Bix to eat!
◊◊◊
BTW if you are feeling up to it, try to eat a dry Weet-Bix in under a minute. No cheating: no water.
..
dsdsafk lkjl refvdmf asdfdsjk!!!
ReplyDeleteI would think it would be like eating wood shavings - Very dry.
ReplyDeleteDo her bowel a world of good though!
I see J Cosmo tried. We don't have Weetbix here... not complaining about that either.
ReplyDeletePerhaps she is just very traumatized by all the fiber!
ReplyDeleteIf those are anything like the Mini-Wheats in the US, that under a minute thing is near impossible.
I've actually had it and it's not that bad. Maybe a little like bark, but not bad.
ReplyDeleteI reckon I could do it. I just have to convince my people to give me one.
ReplyDeleteI've had the misfortune of eating one of those; I wouldn't call it 'Vile', unpleasant things.
ReplyDeleteLikened to gnawing on a Brillo pad.
But with less flavor.
Good on her, though. That which does not Kill us. And all that.
Fair Dinkum.
Sawdust...
ReplyDeleteEeeeyyyyuuuccckkk!!
We have Weetabix here in the UK. Pretty dry, bug can be eaten quite enjoyably with a thick slathering of butter on top, if the milk is sour!
ReplyDeleteHack, hack, hack, YUK! No. Not for me
ReplyDeleteGuess that means you can survive for 9 days eating nothing but tree bark.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - just eating dry Weetbix.. yuk! Surely plunging on and hiking out of there would have been better...
ReplyDeleteAs we have no Weet-Bix I will get a pass on the challenge. But the picture on the box does not make them look pleasent.
ReplyDeleteDoes that really say Sanitarium on the box?
ReplyDeleteI remember at a funfair once there was a stall urging people to try and eat three cream crackers in under a minute - it sounds easy but it wasn't . I guess it's the same with one Weet-bix
ReplyDelete'Sanitarium' is the brand, the company is owned by some religious institution therefore they don't pay company tax and are at a comparative advantage over their competitors.
ReplyDeleteI prefer 'Oat Brits' made by another company. ♥
??? What's so special about eating only that in 9 days? I've been eating all kinds of noodles only for 6 months in a row and never made a fuss (i don't have a rice cooker then).
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Weet-Bix but I wonder what we do have that would be comparable?
ReplyDeleteDid you try your own challenge?
blueviolet has raised an interseting q there..."Did you try your own challenge?"
ReplyDeleteOne of my sons tried it once. Failed.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they're the same sort of thing as our Weetabix. Interesting beggars to eat as you need to catch the magical point when they go from rasping mouth-scourers to mush for the toothless - I reckon you have about a minute when they almost pass for edible.
