I don't get it. There's no such thing as a free lunch and if you're using the engine to drive a battery charger, then it's power that's being diverted from the wheels. Surely it's more efficient to use less fuel and do away with the charger and the weight of the batteries.
Does it actually save fuel?
I recently got an LPG converted car and it does save 20% on fuel costs and is means to make the engine last longer due to the clean burn. The problem is that there aren't too many LPG outlets.
Looks like a nice car. It will be fun to see how the hybried cars age; how the battery works out, if there are any unexpected glitches. Now though you can just enjoy the silence.
I'm always happy to see folks go the less consumption route, though I have to tell you, I'm mighty put off with ALL of the car manufacturers of late. The Aptera (it's on the net, check it out) gets 300 miles per gallon. Lessee...300 miles per gallon. DANG! It just makes me dream of places to go! They made them somewhere in Europe for a few years. Then California. But, and while I don't understand their thinking, they aren't selling them there to go to other states. So, if one lives in California, one can buy it (between $20000 and $40000, depending on whether you get the home theater option package....)..(no. No home theater package) ANYWAY, before I go off on a joke, the point is, why aren't all of the manufacturers making their own version of this?
Wow..what a cool car! I love this model and colour too..we're looking onto buying a car now ( for my future work use) and I chose this type of colour..maybe not that similar..but it's a shade of blue.
I've got the Honda hybrid too, and I love it. Have always liked Hondas, incredibly reliable and top safety ratings. I typically get roughly 35 - 45 mpg, city/hwy. Love it.
