Apparently George W Bush listed "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" as one of his ten favourite books of his childhood.
He was 23 when it was written.
Funny. Embarrassing for George but really it does show how our memories are reconstructions rather than recollections.
Never trust an eye-witness.

Funny!
ReplyDeleteHe was voted as the US President.
ReplyDeleteWow.
Scary.

ReplyDeleteand, I saw a great bear walking into the forest, trudging through the snow...
ReplyDeleteAnd, LO! There was a PIG with the bear.
And the bear said, "If the pig sneezes...."

I would imagine he was on active duty with the Air National Guard about that time. Maybe it got mixed in with his military manuals.
ReplyDeleteWhat a schmuck but you are right about never trusting an eye-witness.
Given what George W. has said over the years, I doubt anything he says embarrasses him - mostly it is just us that are embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder he made many mistakes. Pheww..at least he's a history now.
ReplyDeleteGood choice! It's a wonderful little book with deeper meaning... I love it!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mikelah - learning this about W made me both laugh aloud and squirm in embarrassment. I'd love to read his book report on this book ;)
ReplyDeleteoh bless..made me laugh!.

ReplyDeleteIf only he could have figured out the math BEFORE he made that statement.
